- Speaking of giveaways, Jen Bryant is hosting a giveaway for National Poetry Month featuring two of her award-winning EBYR books, The Right Word and A River of Words, both signed by Bryant and illustrator Melissa Sweet! Brush up on your poetry knowledge and enter by May 1.
- Still speaking of giveaways, Chris Barton is giving away at least one copy (or maybe two copies, or maybe three) of The Amazing Age of John Roy Lynch. Check out his March Bartography Express newsletter to subscribe and enter the giveaway, and while you’re at it read the great interview he did with the Austin’s famous indie bookstore, Book People.
- Shelf-employed reviewed The Amazing Age of John Roy Lynch this week, calling it “a powerful, historical reminder of what was, what might have been, and what is.”
- Louise Owens interviewed Jen Bryant on the Read Me blog. Jen had some great answers for questions on The Right Word, Peter Mark Roget, and her writing process: “When I’m writing a book, my office (and my car) looks like a fierce wind came in and swept everything all about. I always clean up later — but my process is not exactly linear or neat!”

Thank You, God Thank You, God was reviewed by the Christian Library Journal. The book, says the reviewer, “has a peaceful rhythm and a timeless truth” and “would make a memorable gift for a young child, likely to be shared by the whole family and revisited often.”
- The Right Word was included on The Children’s Book Review list of the Best Non-Fiction Picture Books of 2014.
- Several EBYR titles were included in the Bank Street College Center for Children’s Literature Books of the Year list. Brother Hugo and the Bear and In Search of the Little Prince appeared on the Five to Nine list, The Right Word was included on the Nine to Twelve list, and Crazy and A Less Than Perfect Peace appeared on the Twelve to Fourteen list.
- The Cooperative Children’s Book Center Choices list for 2015 included three EBYR titles: Manger in the “Seasons and Celebrations” category, The Right Word in the “Biography and Autobiography” category, and Brother Hugo and the Bear in the “Picture Books for School-Aged Children” category.
- Three EBYR titles were featured in the Capitol Choices best of 2015 list: Two Little Birds in the “Up to Seven” age range, and The Right Word and Mikis and the Donkey in the “Seven to Ten” range.
