News from EBYR & Elsewhere

  • A Well-Mannered Young Wolf was named one of the Best Books of 2016 by Publishers Weekly! A brief blurb, which links to the full (starred) review, calls the book a “sharp-toothed” comedy: “Just when it seems like the wolf’s manners might leave him without a meal, some wicked turnabout rewards the polite and the truthful, and punishes those who don’t keep their word.”

A Well-Mannered Young Wolf was also reviewed on the Waking Brain Cells blog. “The book is completely wonderful” writes the reviewer, “and the twist ending will leave children surprised and asking to hear it again.”

  • Why Am I Here? was reviewed by Kirkus in an article titled “Refugee Odysseys.” The review recommends the book “for your contemplative child, the one who ponders life’s endless existential questions.”
  • At Night, another recent release, was reviewed on the Chat with Vera blog. Vera calls it “a really pretty book with whimsical drawings. . . . The illustrations are charming and the pages each also have little pictures and details that add extra interest for the perceptive reader and listener.”
  • The Golden Key, illustrated by beloved artist Ruth Sanderson, is coming soon! To celebrate, Sanderson is giving away custom designed bookplate for readers who pre-order the book. Learn more on her website.
