Step 3: Coat a cross-shaped cookie cutter with baby oil and press it into the dough. (If you do not have a cross cookie cutter, you can free cut the shape with an oiled butter knife.)

Step 4: Use a toothpick to make a hole in the top third of the cross. This will allow you to put the cross on a piece of string to make a necklace or ornament.

Step 5: Place the cross on a clean piece of wax paper to dry. Check on the cross occasionally and flip it every few hours to help it dry evenly. It should be dry enough to paint after 24 hours.

How to Make Cold Porcelain

Ingredients:

  • 1 ¼ cup corn starch
  • 1 cup white (Elmer’s or similar) school glue
  • 2 tbsp. baby oil
  • 2 tbsp. lemon or lime juice

Place all ingredients into a bowl and mix together until smooth. The dough is too thick and sticky to mix with a spoon, so it will need to be kneaded by hand. Put some baby oil on your hands to prevent them from sticking.
