Revisit the account of Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday with this dramatic shadow box bag.

- Square of thin styrofoam
- Thin cardboard
- Construction paper in various colors
- Jerusalem arch template
- Jesus on a donkey silhouette template

Step 1: Cut out an arch out of the front of the gift bag that measures one inch from the bottom of the bag and one inch from either side of the bag.
Step 2: Cut styrofoam so that matches the width of the bottom of the bag and is slightly deeper than the depth of the bag. Set the styrofoam into the bag so that the bottom in the back of the bag is at a slight incline from the bottom in the front of the bag.
Step 3: Cut a matching piece of cardboard so that it will fit on top of the Styrofoam and give the bag have a solid and flat base.
Step 4: Cut construction paper into the shape of palm leaves and various pieces of clothing (tunics, cloaks, and the like) and glue them to the cardboard that is in the base of the bag.
Step 5: Print the “Jerusalem arch” and “Jesus on a donkey silhouette” templates.
Step 6: Cut out the arch, color it with markers to resemble brick or stonework, and glue it onto a piece of yellow construction paper. Cut to fit.
Step 7: Cut out the silhouette of Jesus. Glue it onto the yellow paper at the center of the arch.
Step 8: Glue the arch and the silhouette to the back of the bag.
Step 9: Glue the Styrofoam base to the bottom of the bag.
Step 10: Glue the construction paper “ground” to the Styrofoam base.
Step 11: Tape clear plastic film to the inside front of the bag to create a viewing window.
