This year has been a very interesting one, spending more days at home and more time with our loved ones. Sometimes, more time spent at home and not being able to go outside can be challenging. It’s easy to run out of fun things to do. After a little bit of searching, I found fun crafts to do with my daughters. They had a great time doing each one of them.
I was going to post this craft about a month and a half ago, but we had toilet paper shortage and I thought this could make things more difficult. Now that shelves look more decent, here is how you can make a beautiful unicorn craft with your children.
For this arts and crafts project you will need the following supplies:
- Toilet paper tubes
- Colored paper
- Glue
- Scissors
- Pink paint
- Gold glitter
- Rainbow yarn
- Googly eyes or black marker
Steps
1- Cut the colored paper to fit around your cardboard tube.
2- Add glue to the paper.
3- Wrap the colored paper around your toilet paper tube.
4- Wrap your rainbow yarn around four fingers until you have a thick hoop of yarn.
5- Take the yarn off your fingers and tie the yarn up in the middle with another short piece of yarn.
6- Cut the hoop of yarn opposite the tie.
Unicorn’s Mane and Tail
7- Tie the yarn on one side to secure and then cut the yarn into two pieces. One will be short (mane), one will be longer (tail).
Unicorn’s Mane
8- Glue the shorter bundle of yarn inside the top of the toilet paper tube leaving some of it hanging over the top.
Unicorn’s Tail
9- Glue on the longer bundle of yarn to the middle of the cardboard tube at the back.
10- Cut the unicorn’s horn from your colored paper and glue some glitter. Wait until it dries, then glue it to the top of the mane hair.
11- Glue a unicorn ear on either side of its horn.
12- Finally, glue the eyes on your unicorn and some cute pink cheeks by dipping your fingertip into pink paint and making a fingerprint.
